This is a very legitimate concern that many pet owners have. If I owned a cat-condo that I knew was made in china, I would attempt to strip the carpet from the condo and replace it with a combo of twine & rope, perhaps add other materials/carpet, etc. My thoughts on carpet is that most carpets are treated with some kind of stain resistant chemicals, and just recently, I read that the water repellant treatment used on clothing, carpets, upholsteries, and other applications had ingredients that are known to cause cancer.
Many people are making their own cat tree-house using real branches from trees that have been cut down or driftwood found on the beach. There are plenty of DIY instruction videos on how to make one, plus, they're more aesthetically pleasing and cats really like climbing on the tree limbs.

Sadly, you didn't address what I feel is the most important issue with cat condos--possible toxicity in the materials like the fleece and faux fur. Anything coming from China is suspect. We need to be sure that the materials are free of any chemicals that could cause problems for our precious kitties.

I cannot even understand how any cat lover could recommend a cat tree covered in "faux fur." Cats need carpeted cat trees for better climbing, scratching and padding. The fur gives no padding to the hard wood. Faux fur is attractive to owners & caregivers, but just short of useless for cats.

Hi Judy, good question. The biggest top perches I've found are no more than 24" wide, like on <a title="this Frisco bed" href="https://cats.com/recommends/this-frisco-bed" target="" rel="noopener ugc">this Frisco bed</a> with one large top platform. Alternatively, you might consider <a href="https://www.wayfair.com/pet/pdp/prestige-cat-trees-56-prestige-extra-large-cat-tree-dres1077.html?piid=" rel="nofollow ugc">this one from Prestige Cat Trees</a>, which has a 21" wide top perch. Hope this helps!

Hello Mallory, Thank you for your help! That link on Etsy was a great option.
I recently found this product on Amazon, which was all separate except for the tri level sisal steps. At this time, the manufacturer offers a $30 coupon off the price. At this moment, with the $30 discount, this set can be purchased for approx under $120 with tax included.

Perhaps some other viewers here are interested. I purchased it and it’s in my living room in a box. No carpeting is included.
