Do not buy the iPettie Tritone fountain. I purchased a different model from that company, and the pump stopped working before the warranty time was up. The company was not helpful and refused to replace it.

The main issue with most of these fountains is that when the power goes out there is no water to drink. Most of them lack a reservoir that is accessible to the cat once the flow stops and the tray drains.

In reply to Krista Jonas. What do you mean you don't have to clean it? I imagine that would be a huge perk for people who are incredibly busy, overwhelmed/burnt out, injured, and/or struggle with issues like ADHD, depression, etc. But not having to clean the fountain at all sounds too good to be true, haha.

Liz, 18% of real purchasers rated your number 1 choice a rating of 1/5 stars. I checked out all of the ones you suggested on your list and they all appear to have significant problems including immediate failure, mold or other issues that could threaten a pet’s health. You need to do better.

In reply to Lynda Mitton. I like the DownyPaws fountains because you can purchase replacement batteries. I keep an extra battery fully charged in addition to the battery in the fountain. So even in a power outage, the fountain will continue to work, and I have an extra charged battery, which means I can get thru even a prolonged outage. Having the extra battery also means I never have to plug in the fountain itself, making it truly wireless. The one negative for me,, it stops pumping when there is still about a 1/2" of water in the fountain. I think this is fairly common with pet fountains. I change the water everyday day anyway, but it means I use more of the dental additive I add to the water.

Been using the raindrop for probably in the range of 10 to 15 years. Worked great the entire time, when the pump died I found a replacement online for cheap that worked with a small modification. Only reason for switching is my new kitten likes playing in the water and manages to splash all of it onto the floor within about half an hour of filling it.
