The bag I got was made in Serbia but Chewy website said made in Italy. My elderly cat who was healthy at last check up three weeks ago ate this for four days before collapsing and died within 48 hours of first vomiting. The diagnosis was acute renal failure. I got the food chemically analyzed by a lab at the chemical plant my father works at. Just like others say all over the internet & the reason Russia has banned Farmina completely... it contained arsenic, which causes kidney damage in animals. I'm sending the results to Farmina and Chewy. I don't have much hope they'll make it right, so I'm just speaking out in case it makes even one pet parent think twice. And shame on Chewy for decieving buyers stating "Made in Italy" on the website. That is wrong in this case on so many level. We all need to double check our food if it matches the description online... and especially when trying a new food for the first time. I would not have bought a food made in Serbia, which is probably why they hide that unfortunate detail. Greed, people.

In reply to <a href="https://cats.com/farmina-cat-food-review#comment-155904">Suzzanne</a>.

Same experience and additional concerns. We found herring bones in the lamb & blueberry. Whole little bones sticking out of the individual kibbles. This is very dangerous for cats. This was in multiple bags. (I usually purchase 3 bags at a time.) And multiple manufacture dates. The company was notified, with pictures,--by me, by Chewy, by local pet stores in my area and in other areas. This wasn't isolated. NO recall. I find that disquieting to say the least. I was a fan. I'd recommended this food for years. We'd used this food, when it was still manufactured in Italy, for about 15 years, with excellent health in our cats. Then it was made in Serbia, and the problems began. And with the chicken & pomegranate, after it changed from manufactured in Italy to manufactured in Serbia, our cat began seeming to feel "under the weather" then began having what I can only describe as neurological issues. We changed to another brand of food, did a rapid transition (more quickly than I would under other circumstances) to the other food, and within a few days--thankfully--our cat was fully back to her usual self. I personally know of several other people who had this experience. This is scary! Please, everyone, if your cat seems "off" at all, especially after eating something from a newly opened bag or batch of cans or pouches, even if it's from a company you've trusted for years--take it seriously. The fact that Farmina was repeatedly notified and did not initiate a recall, well, I've learned a lesson. Take care, everyone, and Willow, my 21-year-old sweetheart kitty, sends best wishes & love!

This food was was my cats favorite and came highly recommended. Then the bags said "Made in Serbia" rather than "Made in Italy" and the vomiting started. I had to change their brand and one cat was a difficult switch but the vomiting stopped. It has been reported in my area that many consumers had the same issue with the Serbia switch and have stopped using the product. The company stands firm there is no difference in the Serbian made products even though so many people have reached out to them. In my opinion, this company failed us and their responses to our concerns were not taken seriously. It took me a very long time to find another brand my older cat would eat - hello Nulo!

Contact the company via the chat feature on the manufacturer website. They will connect you with a specialist to discuss your cats needs and will send a sample upon request!

Check to see it’s the Serbia plant? My cats refuse anything from that plant but Italy plant is good. They got a big problem with Serbia!
