In reply to Jeanette Reno.

Not only do cats dream...they can have nightmares!
I had a cat who had been attacked by a Jack Russell at her previous home and was severely damaged. She disappeared for a week and I think she might have been a meal for an owl or hawk, because she was always terrified by my ceiling fans, so I couldn't use them.
She came to me when she was 13yo. For the rest of her life, she had nightmares at least one a week and would wake up screaming, blood-curling screams, crying, and wanting to be held. 😭 The poor thing had those nightmares for 6 years, until she died at 19yo. She was sweet, smart cat and I miss her.

I witnessed my male cat the other day while he was dreaming. His feet were twitching, his lips were curling, and he rolled to his back. He reached out his front paws and became "kitty aroused". He continued twitching and eye movements and facial movements for a while. His "area" finally stopped and he stretched, rolled over and went back to deep sleep. I never knew... But cats have private dreams! I'm 💯 convinced! My husband and I now refer to him as Casanova, and we giggle about it.

There are a lot of factors to consider, but a clingy cat like yours may benefit from a feline friend, especially if she did well with her companion who passed away. You can learn more in this article on deciding whether or not you should adopt a second cat.

Thanks. I won't wake my cat again when she's twitching. I.sometimes dream about my cats, both the live one and the one that passed.

I have a nineteen year old cat. I want to get another. My vet says no. She's extremely attached to me and I don't want to stress her. She cries when I have to.go out.
What's your suggestion.
