I agree with so much of what you say and wish everyone was so understanding of our little furry family members. Why anyone would be so ridiculous as to impose a belief like making their cat vegetarian or taking one of their most valuable survival tools away from them is beyond all understanding in my mind.
I guess all we can do is stand by and hope that this word spreads more understanding on their part some day and i can say their is hope because unlike before when internet was not our common tool for learning, now we have great resources to hopefully teach people about our babies and people like you, as well, who are so knowledgeable, who as well can educate and spread the word about how we should look after our babis. There is nothing so precious.

When a cat can't escape by climbing safely out of the way of danger, using their claws as protection or even to support a safe landing when they jump, it must have a significant impact on their mental health. Scratching is a means of releasing anxiety, among other things. Owners need to put themselves in the cat's place and think before putting their own needs first.

I am horrified at how few people understand that cats MUST have significant amounts of ANIMAL protein in their diet. I am also angry at how many cat foods claim 30% protein without admitting some of it is substituted with mostly useless vegetable protein. Cat food labels should have to prominently display the percentage of ANIMAL protein.

you and your partner should be ashamed of yourselves. How would if you feel if someone uprooted your fingernails and said you shouldn't have nails at all? you shouldn't be allowed to have cats anymore. How are those cats you declawed supposed to climb, scratch, or hold on to things? if you can't accept cats' anatomy, then leave them alone instead of being cruel to them by removing their body parts for your own needs!!!!!!!

I knew about all of these myths. But I have more experience with cats than most people. Even so, some of these myths should be obvious as not being true. The one about declawing infuriates me. I know people who are the kindest, most generous people in the world who have declawed their cats and have no clue they have done anything wrong. It should be up to the vet to educate cat caretakers about the downsides.

The one about forcing cats to be vegan is frustrating. Vegans are usually well-meaning but use fantasy reasoning based on emotion when deciding to force their little carnivores to go vegan. And you can't argue with them. It's like they believe that the entire world can be vegan someday in the future, including animals. They fantasize that in the future the lambs and lions will lay down and frolic together. They say their cats are very healthy, but, just like with humans, you won't see the negative effects until years later. Also, just because they survive malnutrition does not mean they thrive.

The human years to cat years conversion makes me want to check myself into the psych ward. It should not take a whole lot of brain power to deduct that a 20-year-old cat is not equivalent to a 140-year-old human. I read somewhere that cats theoretically can live well into their 30s, based on a cellular analysis, if everything in their life is perfect, including nutrition. My conspiratorial mind concocts a theory that the pet food companies originated the 7-year myth so that no suspects the sub-par quality of cat food.

You must have read my mind before I even read the comment. One of my cats that I adopted was adopted by a young man who said he had to return the cat because his girlfriend gave him "The Ultimatum". That should be a red flag that the relationship is not going to work.

Hi Carol, thank you for commenting and giving such kind feedback! You know, it's really hard to say why your cat is biting more frequently or perhaps rubbing his teeth on your hand. Some cats will do this as a marking behavior, so it's not necessarily a sign of dental issues. Does he have red gums, visible dental decay, or bad breath? These are all signs of dental issues. You may also want to do an at-home dental health test or take your cat in for a dental inspection before going for the full dental cleaning.
